Welcome to our lovely Victorian Country House Hotel, which dates from 1860 and is set in the heart of the beautiful hills of Southern Snowdonia.

The hotel is secluded. It was built as a country house retreat for a wealthy family in the 19th century, combining space and light (large rooms, big windows) with a homely atmosphere. The outward appearance is grand while the internal layout is essentially a home.
Visitors often say that staying at Dolserau Hall is like being a guest in a private country home. In the halls, corridors and bedrooms the decoration is fresh and light. The atmosphere is calm and the personal service is meant to relax guests and give the feel of hospitality in a private home.

The hotel stands in grounds of five acres on the floor of the River Wnion valley, surrounded by grazing meadow. A private driveway leads to a large car park next to the hotel. Lawns extend on three sides, while the original Victorian walled garden offers a pleasant retreat under the windows of the Coach House.

The Hotel is now completely non-smoking.

As resident owners, we run the hotel with a small but loyal staff, providing for all the needs of our guests. The hotel does not normally take groups or parties larger than six people and only children over ten years old can be accommodated. These simple measures are designed to ensure that there is no unexpected disturbance in your precious few days away.

For guests wishing to bring their dogs, the accommodation in the Coach House is ideal.

There are three Categories of room: Principal, Superior and Classic. These are graded according to the amount of space enjoyed in the room and to the position in the house. Each room is presented to the same level of quality and comfort, with Egyptian cotton linen, luxury towels and Molton Brown toiletries. The Principal rooms have large televisions with a DVD and have the added small luxury of dressing gowns. Fresh milk is provided in a small fridge on each floor.

The rooms are presented to make the best use of the generous proportions of a Victorian mansion. They are furnished simply in a 1980’s style, which has stood the test of time. With the exception of our two small double rooms (see note on tariff page), all double/twin rooms have either new Dreams five-foot King-size divans with 1400 pocket-sprung mattresses or six-foot Super-King ‘Zip & Link’ twin beds. All the rooms have two armchairs and the larger ones have a sofa as well. In short, you will sleep very comfortably and you will be able to relax in good old-fashioned space.

We like to make dinner each evening a special occasion. Your order will be taken by the Head Waitress, while you enjoy a drink in the lounge. Our Head Chef, whose reputation and skill has earned us an AA Rosette in each of the last three years, will be putting the final touches to your dinner while his team will be opening your chosen bottle of wine, lighting the candles and warming the bread.
